People choose to come to counselling or psychotherapy for all kinds of reasons.
It may be that they feel anxious or low, depressed no matter what they do; or they find that relationships start well, but become complicated with emotions connected to ex-partners, childhood or family issues.
Perhaps it’s just a desire to find greater clarity, peace of mind about a certain issue or crisis, or actually actively wanting to move towards a more positive future, searching for the route to free up true potential.
Sometimes just having a sounding board, an objective listener, can be enough to ease some of the tension and confusion and help to find new ways forward, and sometimes clients want to look deeper into themselves and challenge their thoughts and ideas about themselves.
Supportive counselling and/or psychotherapy can be an opportunity to speak and be really heard, to explore feelings like these and be met with warmth and respect. It can support us to find our way through difficulties. It can also deepen our experience of life and help us to find greater satisfaction and well-being.
I offer a sensitive, warm, accepting approach to whatever you bring whether it's current or from the past.
Some issues I work with:
I am a BACP registered member and have been counselling adults (+18) for 12 years. My work is rooted in compassionate, attentive listening, but having trained as an integrative counsellor, it incorporates elements of IFS (Internal Family Systems), Parts Work and Inner Child work, CBT, trauma-related therapies, and the optional use of art materials as a springboard for self-enquiry, growth and change.
It can be daunting and disconcerting making the decision to contact a counsellor. To get a better sense of whether counselling may help, and whether I might be the right counsellor for you, you're welcome to contact me to arrange a free introductory call.

I believe that whatever has happened to us or whatever we have done, we all retain the possibility to realise our true potential. Most of us have, at some point, felt that life is not going the way we want it to. We may also feel anxious, down, overwhelmed or confused and need help or a listening ear.
Counselling and psychotherapy can help us to find new perspectives to re-situate ourselves in relation to present or past issues, and the tools to move forward. It can help to:
make sense of what is troubling you
find new ways of seeing a problem
make changes in your live
heal past pain
learn to live life in a fuller, freer way

'Juliette seems to have a warm empathy and understanding that is helping me through my tangled problems.'

It is about setting aside the time and space in the week just for you; a time to get things off your chest or air pent-up emotions.
Counselling is about giving yourself the opportunity to speak and be really heard by an objective listener.
Psychotherapy is a deeper exploration of thoughts and feelings. It is always up to you to decide how fast or deep the process goes.
Many people would say there's some part of themselves they wish would just go away or a persistent thought that they wish would just stop; they describe an inner, personal, constant tug-of-war of thoughts and feelings. Parts' Work (based on the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model) is about:
Like Inner Child work, these thoughts and feelings are part of our sub-conscious minds that have probably come from earlier experiences in our lives, not always but sometimes even from childhood. They can cause unhelpful and sometimes destructive behaviour patterns which we struggle to stop or change, potentially leading to more frustration and negative thoughts (and then more unhelpful behaviours, and around it goes...).
By working in this way, we can heal and integrate these inner voices and access more clarity and confidence and perspective, leading to more balanced lives.
There is the optional use of pens, crayons, paper and Sand Tray as a springboard for self-enquiry and growth.
